Thirsty Thursday: FeauxCajun’s Bloody Mary

This is my own recipe, perfected over many years of trial and error, and I’m proud to say I actually won first place in a Best Bloody Mary contest a while back at our local watering hole.  So here I share my recipe with you.

Note: If you don’t want a cocktail but still like spicy, tomatoey goodness, just make this without the vodka—still delicious.

Ingredients:

1.5 oz vodka

3.5 oz Tabasco Bloody Mary Mix or Spicy V8 Juice (low sodium if you can find it)

3 dashes Tabasco Spicy soy sauce

3 dashes Worchester  sauce

1/2 oz lemon juice

1/4 lime

splash pickle juice

dash celery salt

dash Cajun seasoning

Garnish:

1 spear pickled okra

1 jalapeno-stuffed olive

1 kosher baby dill pickle

Prep:

Fill your favorite pint glass with ice.  Add (in this order for best mixing) vodka, lime (squeezed into the glass—then I usually just drop the wedge into the glass), lemon juice, Worchester, soy sauce, and then top with Bloody Mary mix (or Spicy V8). Dash celery salt and cajun seasoning on the top.

Then: forget the celery stick—grab a skewer (we usually have some long wooden ones around the house for grilling, so I just cut one in half with kitchen shears) and jab it into your three garnishes (note, if you don’t have one of these, just double-up on another.  If you don’t have any of them…for SHAME.  Use the skewer to stir it all up.

Then kick back & enjoy.
